I have found that searching for a family who has a kid the same gender who is older and a kid who is younger then your next kid, you can swap clothing. I have a daughter who is almost 3, and a son almost 2. I found a friend who has a 5 year old daughter and an almost 1 year old son, she gives me her girls clothing when its small and i give her my sons small clothing... its such a money saver and great for us both!

I just found out a great way to save on groceries. There is a group called Angel Food Ministries. Angel Food Ministries is a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated to providing grocery relief to communities throughout the United States. Once a month you can get $65 worth of groceries for $30, plus buy extra packages of meat deals. You do not have to be income eligible, just hungry. If you just google Angel Food Ministries you will get to the site and can see if they are in your area.
I don't know if this is saving money or not but I am with a book club through the mail and all the books I've read after I get a big stack I donate them to the library. We also donate our toys that our kids have outgrown to a mission near our house and they give them out to the needier families that have a lot of kids and can't afford toys for all of them. It makes us feel good to do this for other people even if we don't get any compensation for it.
We have a few stores that have buy one get one free sales, that's when I stock up, esp on the make-up (I have two teenage daughters) Every Mon Goodwill has 50% off all their clothes, you'd be amazed at how many brand new clothes you can find there that stores like Walmart donate.
This weekend I went to drop off some things at a local consignment shop and saw the most beautiful kitchen set. I was just what I was looking for but couldn't afford. Well they only wanted $175.00 for the table with the leaf and four chairs. They are holding it for me until I get paid this friday. I can't wait to get it home!!!
I can find some really good deals at the clearance racks. Today I found a couple of things at the Target dollar spot that were 75% off; wooden puzzle toys, girls headbands, stickers, liquid soap, easter card, and batteries. I bought several things for the house and my daughter plus a few extra toys for gifts and walked away spending less than $7.00.
Hope you all find some bargains this weekend!
I just found a new consignment shop in my neighborhood. I went through our basement of junk and took it there. I made enough to get my son a Playstation 2. I also sell my son's old clothes on ebay and buy new/used ones in his size. I can't afford Gap at the store but I sure can on ebay.
Coupons are a great help. I have been making sure that Im buying what is needed and not just anything that catches the eye. Luckily all my kids love yard sales and such too. Thank goodness the yard sale season is on its way. I also buy kids clothes during the off season and with 5 kids still in the house we need all the deals we can find.
I too shop clearance racks. if there is a kmart close by you check out the clearances there right now. clerance items are 50% of already marked down yesterday i bought 2 pair of denim shorts for 0.75 cents a piece for my boys also have adult and winter stuff
For Christmas and birthday presents for Rob and I, we have started not giving us anything, and asking our parents and family for gift certificates to our local restaurants or the local discount stores like Target so we can have money to buy clothes for our son or for a lunch out after Church one Sunday using a gift card.
I also clip coupons and am trying to get the boys here to think about penny pinching ideas.
I am a breast cancer survivor of almost 7 years, our son was 4 when I was diagnosed. It seems after that I haven't been able to keep (I had a job for 15 plus years and new management cleaned house) a full-time job. When the job cut came our income was cut in half overnight. Talk about scared. It didn't seem to bother my husband, but my stomach was sure upset by it all.
After almost two years of searching I found a part-time job. I stuck it out for 1 1/2 years but there were major communication problems and I couldn't take it anymore. Stress can aggravate any medical condition.
I'm having a yard sale of things from my 'former life' early in April (our subdivision has one and it's really big) and I'm putting my trust in God to lead me where I need to be.
My sister-in-law can think of a lot of things and ways to save money and stretch the buck. I'm trying to get her to sign-on.
Happy Easter everyone. Missy
I am forever clipping coupons. At the grocery stores, I look in the discounted goods buggies. I hit the clearance racks at the stores when I am shopping for clothes or the like. Also, if I know I am going to shop at a certain store enough times, I get the frequent shopper card.
The grocery store I shop at usually doesn't have store coupons. They do double coupons up to $.99, which is a great savings. They also will accept competitors coupons, which I use alot too. In a week' grocery shopping I usually spend about $100 saving at least $25 - $30 with coupons and in store saving card.
All of us try to make the most of the money we earn. I, myself, buy my son's clothes off season when the prices are reduced. I also clip coupons to save at the grocery store. Here is a place where we can share our money saving ideas.
