Got it and she probably has to get used to rolling over in middle of the night. It seems like she already is, which is great.

Well she has never slept on her back, so I started getting her to sleep on her tummy. Ever since she started rolling over I've had issues with her sleeping. She roles on her back and wakes up. Actually in the last couple of days she has been sleeping pretty good.

Hi, my name is Misty, and I am new on this site. I am the mother of a five-month-old baby girl named Amina, who is teething and just got her first tooth. She's a very good-natured baby otherwise, though.

omg! my cayleigh has done a complete 180! at first she was really fussy. and i mean REALLY fussy. the change happened a week ago. i found out that she has a cow's milk protein allergy. she's been on nutramigen for a week and she's happy all the time. i just wonder what this allergy will mean for her when she goes off formula.

update on the diaper rash. it went away when i used lotrimin af. it turned out to be a yeast infection. i also found out cayleigh's diaper rashes get worse when i use anyting with zinc oxide in it or a & d ointment. i just use powder with cornstarch in it and it works just fine

03/25/08 11:57 PM, samantha wrote:

thanks for the advice. i never had a bad diaper rash problem with my other 2. my mom thinks she came home with a yeast infection. i've also found that anything with zinc oxide makes it worse. a & d ointment seems to work best. my son was the one who picked cayleigh out for his sister's name. he said it came to him in a dream. a friend showed me how a her sister spelled it and i thought the spelling was unusual. i like unusual things. lol

Samantha, one diaper ointment that I found that works really well is Aquafor, its made by Eurcerin. It's really good stuff and works for other rashes and dry skin anywhere on the body. I have a 5 month old named Kaileyanne, we call her Kailey of course. I like the spelling you used.

03/24/08 09:46 AM, lisa wrote:

I think that a&d works the best. there is also a cream made from johnsons that you can find at babies r us that is really good. Just dont use baby wipes on her because they sting and they can make it worse. Use warm wash clothes or paper towles until it goes away. You can also take her diaper off and lay or on a mat on the floor to air out her private area. That helps allot. Other than that just change he frequently and dont let he urine sit on her for long. Good luck

Hi! I'm Samantha and I have a 1 month daughter named Cayleigh. I also have a 9 yr old son named Austin and a 4 yr old daughter named Amber. My little one came home from the hospital with diaper rash and I've been doing everything to make it go away. Any suggestions?

Kristyna, she is doing good, she really didn't have too many problems when she was born except that she couldn't stay awake long enough to eat, but she does that just fine now.:) She is a gassy baby though and she only has a bowel movement about 2 times a week, but the dr said that is fine. she a tiny one though, she is 4 1/2 months now and probably only weighs 9lbs, I'm not for sure, but I'll find out today at her check up. When I started my son on solids we went through all the veggies first before going to fruit and once we got to them I did add them to his cereal sometimes and he loved it. I may have to do that for my daughter once I know she can at least handle the cereal even if she's not liking it. I'm pretty sure she's not going to be allergic to anything, no one in our family has food allergies, but ya never know for sure.

In terms of sleeping our son has yet to learn the meaning of thru the night. His longest stretch is from 9pm-2am and than gets up every2-3 hrs after that. We have tried ferberizing him but depending on the night it works. As I tell all new parents the first 4-5 months are the hardest as you pretty much work on little sleep.

03/13/08 12:04 AM, Eli & Yaffa wrote:

weactually started our son on rice and oatmeal cereal and 2 weeks later started adding baby food to it. Apparently you can start you kid on solids around 4 months. We asked our firends and confirmed with our doctor and so far it has been going pretty well.

With my son he loved the cereal too and we went to sqaush, then sweet potatoes. Now my daughter who is 4 months old and just starting solids also, doesn't seem to care for the cereal. She made the awfulest face when I gave it to her, but I won't give up yet. I'm thinking she may just not be ready yet. She was born 6 wks early so she may need more time.

I had my first night out in forever!!! It was fun, but I missed my babies. About solids...we recently started our little one on cereal. She'll be five months on the 16th, I can't belive it! She loves her cereal. I'm thinking squash would come next? Our dr says the next thing is "yellow vegetables" so I assumed squash...

Eli & Yaffa - how do you pronounce your son's name? :-)

03/11/08 10:25 PM, Beth wrote:

We started solids this week! Zoe is 4 months old now, checking in at just under 9lbs (so petite!) but totally healthy, just skinny! So the Dr said go ahead with the rice cereal. So far, so good - she seems to love it and she can totally use the extra calories. What food should we try next? Thoughts?

I have an 8 year old son and a 4 month old daughter who thinks she's older than she really is. The fourth trimester has been soother than I had anticipated. Raegan has been sleeping 6-10 hours stretches since the beginning of December and naps twice during the day. The tough part will come when i return to work on Wednesday ...uggh!. . . i'm going to miss being home and taking care of my daughter all day long. . . Instead of a million hugs and kisses in the AM, she'll get a billion before i leave for work. . .

I have the same problem with my husband, he's like having another kid though and I have enough already, so I feel your pain. I try everyday to get a little "me" time and it never works out. I have a 12yr old, a 2yr old and a 3 month old. When I finally get everyone to sleep (including the biggest kid of all) I'm too exhausted to enjoy any "me" time. It's been really rough for me. My baby was born early and because of that has some issues so she takes more of my time than anyone, but its getting better.

It was harder than I thought it would be going from one to two! It may have been easier if my husband was around to help more, but he was always out doing something. I suppose we've adjusted somewhat, but we had issues with our 4 yr old and s sudden disinterest in going potty. Now she is finally back to being fully potty trained, but she has such an attitude sometimes! I think it's because she knows that acting out is one way she will definitely get attention, even if it is negative. We have good days and bad days but seem to have settled into somewhat of a routine. Beth, I wish I could have had some wine to help me through. But I'm breastfeeding, so no wine for me! LOL My biggest problem these days is not getting any time to myself. AT ALL. My husband is less than understanding when it comes to that...he just gets mad if I try to do something by myself. He's worse than the kids sometimes, pushing for my attention!! Any ideas on how I can get him to understand? I've tried talking to him...no luck!

HI All - I'm Beth and my husband Jason (the community manager around here) and i have 2 kids - an almost 4 year old son, Luca, and a 3 month old baby girl, Zoe. The transition from one to two was WAY harder than we ever thought it would be. But we are coming out of the new baby haze and beginning to really enjoy our little family! What about you all? How did you deal with the "4th trimester" issues? Easy? Hard? Lots of wine? ;)
