Hey guys! I'm a S.A.H.D. of 3. Over all I love being with them. Hugh, haven't seen you in awhile, glad to see you are still kicking about. Talk to you all later!
Hello Whit: My name is Hugh. I am an at home dad too. I have been sober for... Oh, sorry! Wrong group! ;-) I am the father of 2 boys. One is 8 and the other is 4. To answer Ben's questions; There are a number of at home dad forums available outside of this one. What is going on? We are raising our kids to the best of our ability with little help or support from the outside world and often with little support from our own extended family. The only thing that allows most of us to do what we do is our UN-Common wives. Our wives often foster in us a feeling that our work is important while they themselves have to fight against societal norms and their own jealousy and desire to switch roles. Therein lies the challenge. That and the isolation that comes from the realization that our kids are not allowed to do certain social activities solely because of the gender of the stay at home parent.
So, I have to confess, I'm not an At-Home-Dad... but I talk with a lot of At-Home-Dads through the magazine (www.thefatherlife.com) and thought maybe a group was in order? So, what's going on in the at-home-dad world? What's good? What's challenging?
