So last week we had a dose of reality as my babysitter of 2+ years decided she had enough and quit. It actually ended up being a good thing as we were discussing letting her go when my wife was on Maternity leave in June but her leaving moved up the timeline a bit.
Now I know that change is always scary and the thought of finding someone that can watch your kids, someone who will be good with them and most of all that my kids will like can be daunting.
So i found out she quit on a Wednesday morning and had my first interview on Thursday night. Had another 2 on Friday and 5 more on Sunday. I found them through a bevy of ways from an agency, Craig’s List, friends, etc. In all the process was dizzying and somewhat surreal but I will say i am thankful for the change.
There is nothing like a new start and changing up the routine, i forgot how complacent I can get, let alone my kids. I want my children to be stimulated, excited, entertained and most of all taught about life. It's easy to forget that you have to teach your children to say thank you and please to clean up and wash your hands. These are things that i don't want to compromise on and not that i did before but sometimes it fell through the crack.
The bottom line is that change is not bad and I am not afraid to bring someone new into our lives. It's refreshing and beneficial.
Granted this may all be mute in a few months if things don't work out but hey we will just find another one.
