Blog Entry :: Curse the Catalogs!

I don't remember filling out the form that alerted the catalog companies of the universe that I was about to have children, but somewhere between that first positive HPT and now, they must have gotten the message.  I have received catalogs from every imaginable child, baby, and mother-targeted retailer that exists.  Mostly I am able to pitch them right into the recycle bin, but it's coming to that time of year again, that time of year that grabs me by the collar, breathes its hot breath into my face, and says "Browse the catalogs, woman!"

Halloween.

I'm not usually a sucker for dressing my two little boys up in costumes (although I do have a secret fantasy about putting them in ballerina outfits, just for fun) but Halloween brings that out in me.  I am also not a sucker for spending too much money on those Halloween costumes.  Halloween is not immune to hand-me-downs, so little Brady was a dinosaur last year just like his big brother was when he was 1.  This year he'll be Superman, and Kyle will be Spiderman...again.  He said that's what he wants, and who am I to argue if it will save me money?  (Something tells me that he won't fit last year's costume, however, and I will be shopping for Spiderman again...)

Nevertheless, I flipped through one of these infernal catalogs and froze when I saw this.  Go ahead, look.  I can't resist its rebel cuteness.  I almost ordered it.  Almost.  And then I remembered that Target's costumes are less than $20.  One more catalog for the recycle bin.

Y'know... I thought you wrote "first positive HPV" and I kept thinking "why is she telling everyone that."
