My 7 month old wont nap for more than 10-20 minutes during the day. She's exhausted, I'm exhausted. Any suggestions? I'm not against CIO, but when I tried it, she shrieked for 45 minutes!

Oh, but she sleeps fine at night - no problems!

All the advice I have read is yes a baby needs a nap, but you can't force them to. Chris is the same way. Cat naps, all day. He just wants to play play play. The only time you really need to worry is if she seems really tired or cranky all day due to the short naps, or she starts not eating, etc.

my daughter is doing the same thing. she will sleep a few minutes and wake up like she had been out for hours. but usually she isnt ill she just wants to play. She thinks if she sleeps she misses things. Also if yours is like mine every move or noise she hears she wakes up. she is very noisy that what i tell her all the time. as long as she sleeps at night i wouldnt worry to much

All of my boys gave up napping early on, but not quite that early. The great thing you have going for you is that your baby is sleeping through the night! Mine didn't do that until they were over a year, either. I'd try putting on some soothing music or something and lying down with her during the day to get her to at least rest awhile. Maybe during the day she's just afraid she's missing something interesting going on? Does she have a dark, quiet place to try to nap? In any case, she'll sleep when she needs to, but I'm sure you're missing the quiet time during the day! Every child is different, and this one might just not need a lot of sleep! Good luck, and just be glad she sleeps at night! :D

Each child is different, needing different amounts of sleep. My son Noah, now 3, use to be the same. He would get up in the morning and wouldn't sleep again until the afternoon. If I put him back in his crib for a nap before noon, he just wouldn't sleep. So, I just kept him up. In the afternoon, I would lay down with him until he fell asleep. He would then sleep for 2 hours. At night, he wouldn't go back to bed before 9. He has never been a big sleeper. Even now, he rarely has a nap in the afternoon.
